I Stripped bedroom and cleaned up, and our bathroom as well, so we didn’t leave any mess for Pauline while Michael packed van again. Had early lunch and headed off for the hospital again to visit mum before leaving for Port Melbourne.
Noticed she was connected to a monitor again and IV drip going again. Mum was sound asleep. Her hands have been blue last 3 days, no circulation hardly at all, and I have been massaging them and encouraging her to clench and unclench as much as she can, but she doesn’t really do it unless I’m with her. While she slept, Michael stayed with her, and I went looking for her nurse to find out why the monitor and what update there was…. Took over half an hour to speak to her, (they are so slow there..... lots of standing around and not a lot of movement happening ..... bloody frustrating. I ended up asking to see the doctor as well because of the vagueness of what I was asking the nurse. The doctor came about 10 minutes before we had to leave.
Seems clots are under control and they seem happy with that side of things, but her blood sugars were down to 2.7 this morning and they were worried – back up to 8 after supplementing her. Changed her anti-biotics yet again because the last lot were negating or causing other medications useless. They say if they can get rid of the bugs in her system, she will be sent to rehab to see if they can help her to walk a little again, or at least get her balance to be able to lean on her walking frame to transfer to wheelchair - before sending her back to ‘’Domain by the Bay’’ (her nursing home). Felt really sad to leave her, as I just don’t know if she will be ok still while we are away ….. (please pray for her, those of you my friends who have faith)…..
Got to ‘Spirit of Tasmania’ at Port Melbourne in way less than an hour from the hospital, and sat in van from 4pm till nearly 6.30 before we were finally aboard. Took video bits and pieces, but forgot to take ‘’stills’’ (I often tend to do that)…..
Had lovely roast dinner at ‘’Captains Table’’ restaurant, and went out on deck after to view our departure, and until it was almost dark. After such a hot day, the skies had filled with clouds, and the wind was up, so around 8.30pm we went inside and up to the entertainment lounge to listen to fantastic duo – father and son Rino and Jade…(of course I was singing along to every song they sang and they noticed) and in their next break, joined Michael and I for chat, and again after they finished their next set, before we decided to come to bed. They have given us a long screed of places that we should try to visit and stay at if we get a chance, so we will see what we can in the time we have.
Here are a couple of shots taken of onboard -
